Winemaster David Whitehouse Jr. joined Trefethen in 1975 after stints at Robert Mondavi and Callaway wineries. Not coincidentally, Trefethen's 1976 Chardonnay was named "Best in the World" in 1979 at the World Wine Olympics in Paris.

As Vice President of Vineyard and Winery Operations, David has guided Trefethen's winegrowing efforts for over 30 years, from our early successes in the 1970s through the challenging years of phylloxera in the 1990s to the renaissance of our estate vineyards in the 21st century. We are privileged to count him as one of our family.
